WBU-500: "Onden no Suisha, The Water Mill at Onden, one of the 36 views of Mt. Fuji" by Hokusai Katsushika. Size: 61/2" x 9". $74.95 (S&H: $10.00). Delivery: 2-3 weeks.

Onden is located near the present Harajuku station in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo. When we refer to the map of the time, running streams, farms, farmers and water-mills are markedly laid down on it. Hokusai seems to have been moved by workers. The running water shows an interesting modality.

WBU-501: "Nobuto-Ura, the Inlet of Nobuto, one of the 36 views of Mt. Fuji" by Hokusai Katsushika. Size: 61/2" x 9". $74.95 (S&H: $10.00). Delivery: 2-3 weeks.

Nobuto is a part of the present city of Chiba. This place and Shinagawa in the Bay of Tokyo face each other. Around here the sea is shallow for some distance from the shore and rich in fishes and shellfishes. People are picking up seashells. Hokusai seems to wish to put Mt. Fuji in the frame of the Torii (the shrine gate-way).

WBU-502: "Shimomeguro, a rural village in Edo, one of the 36 views of Mt. Fuji" by Hokusai Katsushika. Size: 61/2" x 9". $74.95 (S&H: $10.00). Delivery: 2-3 weeks.

Shimomeguro, which is now a part of uptown Tokyo, is rolling country, and here and there one happens to witness places resembling the scene. Straw-hatched houses, a young girl with a baby on her back and two falconers will tell you what rural parts of Tokyo were like in those days.

WBU-503: "Tokaido Ejiri Tagonoura, the Tago Beach at Ejiri on the Tokaido, one of the 36 views of Mt. Fuji" by Hokusai Katsushika. Size: 61/2" x 9". $74.95 (S&H: $10.00). Delivery: 2-3 weeks.

Mt. Fuji as seen from off the Tago beach in Ejiri, which is now a part of Shimizu. The light tones of the picture are impressive . The two sailingboats suggest the rolling sea. On the beach are depicted in detail people working to manufacture salt.

WBU-504: "Onmayagashi Yori, the sunset view across the Ryogoku bridge from the bank of the Sumida river at Onmayagashi, one of the 36 views of Mt. Fuji" by Hokusak Katsushika. Size: 61/2" x 9". $74.95 (S&H: $10.00). Delivery: 2-3 weeks.

Mt. Fuji rises beyond the wide river against the evening sky and a ferry-boat goes away in the foreground. The long bridge across the river gives depth to the view. An umbrella on the boat and the gradation of Indian ink of the sky show that the rain is falling, but the bridge color on the horizon suggests that the weather looks promising.

WBU-505: "Bushu Senju, Senju in Musashi Province, one of the 36 views of Mt. Fuji" by Hokusai Katsushika. Size: 61/2" x 9". $74.95 (S&H: $10.00). Delivery: 2-3 weeks.

Senju lies by the upper-stream of the Sumida River. In olden days there was the stage where they relayed horses, and this was starting point for the Ohshu Kaido (the highway leading to the northeastern districts). Mt.Fuji in white rises up clearly blending into the color tone suggestive of the evening sky. The pose of the man who looks at Mr. Fuji on his way home with a horse is very often used.
